Dash-7

Reporting & Budget Software
For the RD 3560-7

The Right Tool for a Tough Job

This comprehensive system integrates every aspect of the reporting and budgeting process required by Rural Development. Annual Totals, Year-to-date estimating, Capital Expenditures, Rent Increases, Commenting and Itemizations all in one easy to use program. The Dash-7 is not a database, spreadsheet or a document designed around the budget requirements. It is a software tool specifically designed for the RD 3560-7.

Transmit to RHS according to  MINC requirements

Budgets, Annual Reports, Quarterly Reports and Monthly Reports will soon be required to be electronically transmitted to Rural Development. Can you get your spreadsheet to write EDIFACT message format and transmit your files via Kermit Protocol to the RD’s BBS system? Dash-7 can!

Use Dash-7 with your existing accounting system!

Whether you have QuickBooks, AccPac, Great Plains, AMSI or a program that attempts to produce the 3560-7 form, Dash-7 will serve your needs. Dash-7 provides focus on the budget and reporting process, without overlapping the accounting process. It is what you need to do the job quickly and accurately without the hassle of maintaining spreadsheets and other associated documents.

The Annual Cycle

This smart software shows you where you are in the annual reporting cycle. The statuses of the Current Budget, Financial Totals, Estimates for Year-end and the Proposed Budget are displayed. Buttons are highlighted in yellow for the next step in the process. Grey buttons are not required or cannot be executed yet.

Estimating vs. Actual

When rent increases are required, projecting the annual financial totals are necessary.  Dash-7 will extrapolate the remainder of the year, allow you to override its extrapolations then accumulate the estimates with the actuals-to-date giving you full control over the estimated year.

When printing the proposed budget for RD, the estimated year can be suppressed (according to regulation), if desired.

Once a year is complete, plugging in the actual year-to-date figures is simple.  Allowing you to quickly update your budget and resubmit it for your annual report.

Pop-up Calculations

For fast and accurate year-end line item estimates and proposing new budget line items. It computes increases (or decreases) from current budget or actuals, amount per unit per month or per year. It has "smart rounding", rounding the proposed budget values to the nearest 5, 10, 50, 100, 500 or 1000 value according to the magnitude of the value.

Color Coding

This user controlled color coding provides quick visual feedback, letting you know what to comment on for your RD office and what line items you should focus your attention on.

Itemization is Required

Many of the line items throughout the 3560-7 require itemization. Dash-7 makes itemization easy, providing pop-up lists that automatically subtotal. When the 3560-7 is printed, the itemizations are neatly printed in the comment area starting on page 6.

Commenting

Comments can be provided for any line item for actuals and for the proposed budgets. Simply click on the line item and comment as much as you like. When the 3560-7 is printed, short comments will be printed on the line item in the space provided, wordy comments are organized in the comment area starting on page 6.

Capital Expenditures

The fully integrated Capital Expenditures form allows you to quickly report actual and proposed capital expenditures. Integration to the respective line items of Part I and Part III are automatic.

The programming knows what is considered "Building Repair and Maintenance" and what is "Equipment Repair and Replacement".  It itemizes, accumulates and posts the totals in all of the appropriate places.

Access to Capital Expenditures is easy, simply click on any of the line items associated with them, i.e. "Long Term Improvements", or "Reserve, Building Repair & Maintenance", or "Reserve, Equipment Repair & Replacement" and up will pop the associated Capital Expenditures.  Or access it directly from the main menu.

Rent Increases

All calculations are considered in Rent Increases. Dash-7 performs rent calculations according to the process to establish new rent rates detailed in Note 1 of the 3560-7 instructions. When auto-computing rent increases, it considers the changes in the vacancy allowance and management fee that are affected by the rent increase, calculates the ripple effects of the change and automatically adjusts the rent increase to compensate.

Import Training Setup >>

Importing

Importing data from your accounting system is not required. Manually entering year-to-date financial totals is also easy to do. But, importing is instant and accurate, there are never any transposition errors. It is systematic, always placing each account value into its respective place on the 3560-7. You’ll spend less time hunting down missing or inaccurate entrys.

Import Training

Train Dash-7 once for importing your accounting data, use it always. Training is easy... Export your financial data from your accounting system. Open the exported file with the Dash-7. Then, indicate which line item each account should be imported to.
